In cases where unrelated samples t test conditions are not met, if the measurement results are at least at the order scale level but do not show normal distribution, the Mann-Whitney U test is used instead of the unrelated samples t test. The aim is again to make a comparison between the two groups.
Hence the Mann-Whitney U test is used:
1-when we want to compare two groups,
2-if the measurement we are comparing is at least on the ranking scale,
3-if normal distribution condition cannot be met.
In this video, how the Mann-Whitney U Test is performed using SPSS, when it is used, what its main purpose is, what the prerequisites are and its interpretation are explained in detail.
